Ding dong… monkey business

Our friend, Fred, has a problem. The monkeys that live around his house have learned how to ring the doorbell. And it’s not cosmetics they sell……We have a similar situation. Several streams of army ants have started marching by our house. One wrong turn and we will be evicted for several days while they scout out the house and eat everything alive that they can find.

Last Sunday 540 high school girls joined our Sunday service. CREATE has a great ministry.

Thank you for continuing to think of us. God bless.

Kenyan version of 407ETR

You may have guessed that our roads are not much like the 407 north of Toronto. But at least we don’t have toll charges (not here, at least). But 407 is special to us, because that’s how many children attended our Evangelistic Training Rally (ETR….) put on my us and the teachers, last Monday. A great opportunity to reach the nearby school. But that wasn’t all.

The Kenyan flag flapped listlessly in the breeze. The equatorial sun beat down on us as we gathered in a makeshift soccer field. It was an education day. I was asked to speak to the crowd about CREATE…and I also preached the Gospel. To 16 schools. And 6,500 students! And teachers and administrators. And political leaders! What a great opportunity.

I was also reminded that when you are able to support our ministry, you also provide the income of 10 families who work on the mission station. They really appreciate your interest.

God bless.

Stone-age ATM

So there I am at a little town called Mbale, Kenya. The market across the street has not changed much in the last 200 years. Except the shirts have modern hockey logos from Canada. Some of the food for sale is possibly 200 years old.

When I turn around, however, there is a new bank facing me. With an ATM. An ATM that allows me to withdraw Kenya shillings from my Canadian bank account. At a good rate. Within a minute.

The contrasts in Africa!

Last night we had 17 at our home Bible-study, led by Marge. It was a great time, and the teachers were greatly impressed with the theme of victory in Joshua! Marge is feeling stronger every day.

Thanks for your interest. God bless.

“Please don’t go back to Goibei…”

We thank you for your continued interest.

Our teachers are back from mid-term break. One man, Stephen, said his wife begged him not to come back. The reason? He had changed into such a better person, that she did not want to see him go! Other teachers told how people found them changed, improved, younger, and eager to share their faith. We are excited about our ministry that will affect so many people in Kenya.

Marge is feeling much better. Some of the teachers came over to pray for her yesterday, and she is much improved!

Thanks again for praying. God bless.
