Out of one gate, to another…

When the government of Kenya announced a few years ago that primary school education would be free, the schools were flooded with new children. And more teachers were needed. But budgets were limited.

So, principals hesitate to release their teachers for our 3-month program.

So we are praying about something new. Taking our program out of our gate, and into the schools. There are 5 within walking distance of our remote, rural mission station. The teachers would love a one-day seminar. With a meal for them. And a certificate. And the beginnings of a feeding program for the children!

Out one gate.

Towards the gates of hell. Pushing them back.

Thanks for praying about this. We would love to improve the nutrition of the children in rural Kenya, and this could be a vehicle to do it.

Thanks for praying about this with us.

Whirled view or goodness snakes?

Wow – thanks for all the responses about the snake. Unfortunately, I am having trouble responding…..

It was wonderful visiting our former stomping grounds in Mombasa. The missionary retreat was great. We returned just in time to help facilitate 4 days of workshops for High School principals. It was all about world view.

If a teacher has an atheistic worldview, or secular humanist, or racist, it will affect every subject he teaches. On the other hand, Christians should be salt…..preserving life, and adding flavour to life. We are grateful for all the new contacts we made.

Thanks for praying as we take Sherry back to school tomorrow. God bless.

For goodness snakes…

Well, we have guard dogs. And guards. The high school next door to the mission has found a cheaper kind of security.

A snake.

I could exaggerate by saying I first saw it eating a cow, but I have to admit it is only a 12-inch green snake that sits outside the gate.

Fangs a lot.

I guess it substantiates the theory that on the mission field you do what you can with what you have.

Which reminds me to ask that you will pray about the recruitment of teachers for next term. Thanks for thinking of you.
