June 2007

Is that a cow in your bedroom?

We went for a stroll through the hills,
There were monkeys and tea plants – what thrills.
And some cows in a house, put by a man or his spouse,
It has saved on his gas heating bills.

There are thieves who patrol every night
To see what to take – it’s not right.
So the cows are brought in, it does add to the din,
But it often avoids a big fight.

And our seminars seem to go well.
The Mbale crowd thinks that they’re swell.
Marge does teach on the home, and I must work to the bone
For all of my info to tell.

Thanks for making all of this possible. God bless.

So you think you have problems…

Our reunion is just over – 5,000 children were represented by teachers who gathered for our reunion this weekend!

So you think you have problems: consider-
* Bett,who had to walk 14km to catch a bus with his suitcases;
* none of the schools represented had electricity;
* all were understaffed (1 school had 8 classes and 6 teachers);
* some principals are quietly deleting Christian education,and teachers who complain are transferred to Siberia;
* Cornel’s school is in a huge swamp, and kids have to dodge hippos, hopscotch over snakes and crocodiles to get to school (we’ll be visiting there in Sept);
* when Margaret asked the librarian for Bibles to use in class, she was told they had to stay on the shelf to stay clean.

Thanks for helping us help them. Blessings.

More dates than a fruitcake

Our schedule was fairly light, with only 4 dates booked in June. Last Sunday we decided to go to a church we had never even seen before, and met the pastor who didn’t know us, either. He immediately asked Ken to be the speaker, and then set up 8 seminars! When we got home in the evening, another contact called to book 2 more. Meanwhile, our colleague, Simon, had to postpone 3 other engagements. Things are really picking up! And we thought the dates would be a fig – ment of our imagination.

God bless.
