Making a spectacle of myself….again

You know what it’s like during 15 hours in the air. Sleep, read, sleep, read, etc. Well, I woke up to an announcement that someone had lost their glasses. Mine were not in my glasses case, so I called over the flight attendant. He leaned over to hear me, and said he would see about the glasses.

When I adjustted the headset a few minutes later, I found the glasses on my head! They had been 6 inches from the attendant’s nose when he said he would go and ask about them. Sure glad he didn’t notice.

We’re in Nairobi, Sherry is happily in RVA, and we look forward to returning to Goibei tomorrow. We have continued to be in contact with the Principal of the Bible School where we will be teaching one day a week, and with the organizer of a 6-day seminar in Mumias.

Thanks for praying for us.

No longer stoned

So there was this farmer in the Hebrides who had a problem with swallows and terns who were eating his crops. He found a way to keep them away….by throwing rocks at them. He left no terns unstoned.

And the doctor left no stones unturned in testing my kidneys….the two large stones are gone, and a smaller one poses no problem. We thank God for these good results.

Hither and yawn

First, there was the mouse climbing the wall beside Marge’s head. Was this in Goibei? No. We have to settle for lizards there. Or bats in Zambia. It was at our cottage near Paris, Ontario.

Where we visited for my CATscan. You know, a CATscan would be good to keep the mice away. We await news of the results. X-rays of my head found nothing….

Last November the specialist said I was out of my mind to leave Canada with those 3 kidney stones lodged where they were…… Our visit to Canada has produced many more who feel the same way about my cranial capacity.

And all that studying for the blood tests.

The internet is great: we have been fine tuning the Bible College course I will be teaching in Nyang’ori, starting September 4, and the 6-day church and school leadership seminar in Mumias, starting September 10. We have been able to keep in touch with our fine Kenyan staff on the mission station in Goibei.

It has been great seeing family and friends, but we are also keen to get back “home” in East Africa.

Thanks for praying.
